Peacock Cushion – Yellow

How we make it

This cushion cover is handwoven 2 x 2 organic “Kala” cotton. The cotton grows in the desert area of Kutch, Gujarat as it has for centuries.
It is naturally pest resistant and needs almost no water to grow.

The yarn has been dyed using pomegranate skins which produces this beautiful shade of yellow.

The peacock motif is added using the supplementary warp method which is rather like tapestry.
The artisans that make these are incredibly skilled and have huge amounts of patience.

The tassels are all made by hand.

Once the cloth is woven it is sent to us in our studio on the south coast of Sri Lanka
where our master tailor turns it into this beautiful cushion cover.

• We make the covers slightly smaller than the inners they’re made for, as we like a snug fit.

Fabric Care

• Natural dyes can fade in direct sunlight
• Hand wash with mild detergent in cool water or dry clean.
• Line dry, do not tumble.
